The MiG-17SF-3 was a modification of the MiG-17F which first flew in 1954 with the goal of replacing the two NR-23 and singular N-37 cannons usually found on the airframe with two NR-30 30mm cannons. It was largely identical to the MiG-17F, being powered by a Klimov VK-1F afterburning turbojet engine which got it up to a speed of ~1100km/h. This machine differentiates itself from the standard MiG-17F with the new and improved NR-30 30 cannons, an SRD-1M radar rangefinder with a maximum range of 2km and a new ASP-5N-V3 sight in place of the old ASP-4NM.
