About The Burlaki aerial towing/refueling system Mp3 Sound Effect
The Burlaki aerial towing/refueling system was first developed in 1949 by Yakovlev for the purpose of allowing fighters like the MiG-15 and Yak-25 to escort bombers over extremely long ranges by hooking up to the bomber via a tow cable. The process of hooking up the bomber was quite simple: the bomber would release the cable with a length of 150 meters which had a cone at the end, then the fighter would start by matching the bomber's speed and gradually approaching said cone. Once the fighter and bomber were at the same speed and the fighter was close to the cone, the harpoon would be extended and inserted into the cone, which had a locking system. The fighter would then turn its engine off or set the throttle to ~10% and simply be towed by the bomber. In the event of enemy aircraft attacking the bomber, the fighter would turn on its engine, retract the harpoon and rush to deter any threats. It is worth mentioning that in an emergency, the harpoon could be jetissoned from the fighter instantly. Tests were carried out with 4 types of harpoons, all with slight variations. The aircraft this system was tested on were the Yak-25 and MiG-15bis as escorts and the B-25 and Tu-4 as bombers. Pilots remarked that this system was very easy to use even at night thanks to 3 red lights being present on the cone. The only flaw reported was that if the Yak-25 were to turn off its engine during towing, the cockpit would depressurize and become extremely cold, putting strain on the pilot. This issue did not exist with the MiG-15bis due to the redesigned harpoon and heating being controlled by an auxiliary generator which did not depend on the engine being on. The ability to refuel the fighter during towing came only with the improved harpoon on the MiG-15bis, which had a fuel line going from the harpoon all the way to the internal fuel tank. Work on this project was stopped in 1956 due to the development of air to air missiles which rendered fighter escorts for bombers useless. #viral #fyp #fighterjet #jet #soldier #army #warthundervideo #mikoyan #warthunderplanes #warthunder #war #planes #plane #history #aircraft #ussr #soviet #fyp #viral #avgeek #planespotting #aviation #aviationlovers #aviationdaily #coldwarThe Burlaki Aerial Towing/refueling System Sound Effects Free Download.
