"Cubic Zirconia" by Katy Kirby I first started listening to Katy Kirby at the beginning of this past summer when I came across her album Cool Dry Place. I took a look at her bio and was further drawn in by her story. Apparently she was raised by "two ex-cheerleaders" in a very Evangelical Church setting. In fact, that's where she first started learning and performing music. The music she is now releasing as an artist is directly rebelling against and dismantling what she would describe as (and I would agree) very boring church music. Her music reminds me of another one of my favorite Indie Rock bands right now called The Beths. I'm excited to see her release this first single since her debut album, which as always I'm taking as a sign that there's a lot more new music to come in the near future.
