Are you a delay junkie? What’s your go to delay? Today we’re checking out some more sounds with the Echo Fix EF-X2 Tape Delay. It’s been a fantastic addition to the collection and I’m really loving the sounds I’m getting out of it. Even in pedal form, I’ve also gravitated towards Tape emulations so being able to sit and play the real thing is something special. For those who aren’t familiar the EF-X2 is an updated take on the classic Space Echo tape units. Echo Fix spent years repairing them and turned that knowledge toward manufacturing units with modern parts and functionality. There are 3 tape heads as well as a S.O.S head that allow for up to 14 combinations of playback heads. The EF-X2 also features a spring reverb and the ability to add in either a Digital Reverb or Chorus. There is also an EP Style Preamp at the front end which sounds fantastic. It can also be pushed to drive the signal harder and push your amp into overdrive (which is what I’m doing for the extra gain on the solo here) This track is actually one I wrote for the Boss RE-2 release and I thought it would be cool to revisit it and rerecord it using a proper Tape Echo.
