Burger buns— I’ve finally perfected my burger buns recipes and I’m so excited to share it!!! This recipe is soft, light & way better than shop bought. It’s such a great way to take your barbecue up a notch!!! Make sure you save this recipe for later!! 🍔 Ingredients: 500g strong white bread flour 10g fine sea salt 25g caster sugar 7g instant yeast 1 large egg 240ml whole milk (lukewarm) 60ml water 50g unsalted butter (softened) For topping: 1 egg (for egg wash) Sesame seeds (optional) Instructions: 1. In a stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast (keep the salt and yeast on opposite sides of the bowl). Add the egg, warm milk, and water. Mix on medium speed for about 8 minutes. 2. Add the softened butter in small pieces and continue kneading for another 8 to 10 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky. 3. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise at room temperature for 1 to 1.5 hours, until doubled in size. If it’s a really hot day— just do 1 hour! 4. Turn the dough out onto a surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces (or 10 if you want them slightly smaller). Shape each one into a smooth ball and gently flatten it. Arrange them on a parchment-lined tray with some space between. 5. Cover loosely with cling film or a damp tea towel and let rise again for about 1 hour, until puffy. 6. Preheat the oven to 190°C fan (210°C conventional). Brush the tops of the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until golden brown and shiny. 7.
