How I increased my bench press from 235 to 280 pounds in 4 months⬇️ 2 exercises were massive in increasing my bench press so fast. The first being the close grip floor press. I used this to build tricep strength specifically during my pressing movements and would program heavy sets of 6-8 reps as my main movement occasionally going really heavy for a single double or triple. My favorite tricep strength builder is the rolling tricep extension using dumbbells. This helps hit the tricep head directly behind the elbow which helps lock out the bar at the top of the press. I used all kinds of programming for this exercise - high reps low weight, low reps high weight, high reps high weight, drop sets.. you name it, I tried it. Love this exercise! Most of the growth came from learning how to use (and build) my upper back. I enjoyed weighted pull/chin ups and heavy dumbbell rows. The Kroc Row is my favorite dumbbell row and for the pull-ups I just did a ton of them. Similarly to the tricep extensions I played with the programming a ton but what really worked for me was taking sets close to failure - even if they were heavy as sh*t!
