Felicia Ewuaresi Abban (1935-2024) was born in Takoradi, Ghana and is considered to be Ghana’s first femal photographer. She started her photography career at the age of 14, working as an apprentice for her father who operated a ohotography studio in their hometown. After working alongside her father for four years, Abban moved to Accra and opened her studio. Mrs Felicia Abban’s Day and Night Quality Art Studio and took on other women as apprentices. Abban’s other credentials include working for Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah and was widely known for her self portraits which she used to oromote her business from the 1950’s to 1970’s.
