‘Lovers’ Rock’ was a series of photographs captured by John Gato in 1977. The photgraphs presented are of young British-Caribbean people at Lewisham Youth Centre in South Lindon where Gato taught evening classes in photography. The meaning behind the series’ name was based on the reggae sub-genre of the same name which emerged in South London during the mid 70s.
