Throw on some headphones for this Re-Sound Designed #arcane scene I mixed in Dolby Atmos using only @sansound3 SANWEAR–GT earbuds for the entire process. The binaural version of the Atmos mix works best on headphones. I recorded a lot of foley for the cloth movement on this redesign. Usually I try my best to put my own spin on a scene, but I think I ended up pretty close to the original in a few places (the original design was pretty iconic). So I tried a few things when mixing to elevate the scene instead. In the end, I opted to add back in the music (I try to not straight up rip music normally, but it felt so integral to the scene), upmixed to 7.1.4, and routed through an object bed. So the music should feel like it’s coming from all around the listener. I also tried out a new reverb workflow that sends all of the panning information straight to a surround reverb, and then routed that to an object bed. I hope in the end it feels like you are really in the alleyway. I don’t think it lived up to original, but I’d love to hear your thoughts! This is the 6th in a series of 10 spatial audio redesigns I’m doing in collaboration with SAN Sound.
