We just finished a very special immersive recording session here in the auditorium at the @agakhanmuseumtoronto in Toronto. This project is a partnership between the Aga Khan Museum and @smallworldmusic 🙌🏼 The ensemble was led by the legendary Qawwali singers @fareed.ayaz.92 and Abu Muhammad featured 14 artists in total including 4 artists from here in Toronto. This performance was recorded with the intent to be played back as part of an immersive installation where the audience at the centre of the experience surrounded by speakers and projections. I worked with Reza Moghaddas from small world Music to design the recording plan for this recording session. 11 channel immersive microphone array (The Gray Array 😀) - 7x @schoepsmikrofone MK4 on the lower layer - 4X DPA 4006 on the upper layer Spot mics were also added for individual instruments to be able to refine balance and proximity later in mixing.
