Gaza is being taken by Israel, and the people of Gaza are being ethnically cleansed. We cannot ignore it. We are watching a U.S. funded genocide. Early childhood educators, musicians of children’s music, parents reading this, and anyone and everyone who cares about children (and human beings) should be horrified at what is happening and use their voices to speak up. We must take to the streets, call our “representatives,” and demand an end to the siege on Gaza. We are demanding no more money to Israel, no more money for bombs and weapons, and that aid be let in to Gaza. This is not controversial and using our voices and our platforms, whether you have 100 followers or 100 million followers, is absolutely the very least we can do. I will be working on a longer post soon with more attainable actions and folks to follow and donate to. The clip above is from our last show of tour in Atlanta. At every show since @wizard_bisan1’s call to bang on pots and pans in protest of mass starvation, we stopped in the middle of Raffi’s “Down By the Bay” (where the 🍉 watermelons grow) to make some noise for the people of Gaza and bang on empty pots and pans to symbolize the intentional starvation of an entire population while aid waits behind a blockade to be let in. After this particular show, I got to meet a Palestinian woman who came to the show. We both had tears in our eyes as we thanked each other and hugged.
