Israel is actively trying to wipe out the Palestinian people, and our own government is funding it. The U.S. just passed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which gives tax cuts to the wealthy, pours $150 billion into the military, and another $70 billion into border enforcement (ICE). Meanwhile, it cuts food assistance, Medicaid, and clean energy, and adds $5 trillion to our national debt. As an artist who makes music for children and families, I feel this grief in my bones. Right now, kids in Gaza, Sudan, the Congo, and even here in the U.S. are suffering. They are being bombed, starved, displaced, or taken from their families. If we believe children deserve joy, safety, and freedom then we must demand better. We must keep saying: “No more. Not in our name.” And show one another what community looks like and practice our values, resist and build the world we want for ourselves and the next generation. This letter isn’t a solution. It’s a reminder that you are not alone. You are not imagining it. What is happening is horrifying, and it’s okay to feel gutted by it, to cry, and to scream, to feel numb and hopeless… But please, do not look away for too long.
