I am going to tackle my kitchen makeover! I am soooo excited!!! The moment we saw this house, I knew the kitchen had so much potential. It’s a good size kitchen but there are so many things that I want to improve. I especially need it to function better, as a mom of 3 kids. Here’s what I will be tackling: - Painting the cabinet door. No way I am spending $6k on new doors! - Replacing the backsplash. This will probably be the most expensive part of the project. Still trying to figure out if I do peel and stick tiles or tile on top of the existing tile - I am not replacing the black granite counters. I would have loved white counters, but I know with small kids, quartz has a lot of upkeep too. - Replacing the hardware to gold hardware - I will be adding in drawers into my tall pantry and hopefully storing my microwave in there too! More counter space - The island is really awkward because there is no space to pull up and stalls and still be able to walk around. Instead, I will convert the overhang into functional cabinets and drawers - Change the faucet to a gold faucet - Of course, my long time community knows that I want to replace my entire main level floors. I painted my floors back in Feb as a temporary solution until we can install hardwood (maybe in the spring?) - Extend the cabinets to the ceiling, or maybe just add more trim to take it to the ceiling. There’s only a 6” gap!!! - Changing the corner cabinet to wood hutch or floating shelves. Something prettier - Installing a pull out trash drawer. We had one in our old house and I miss it SO MUCH.
