It’s built from fragments of different magnetic tapes, creating a texture that’s always in motion. The entire audio passes through this loop in real time. The field recording—captured at Malibu Creek—starts on a dictaphone, goes through Generation Loss 2, and ends up on the loop. The signal path looks something like: cassette → tape emulation → cassette tape loop. I’m also turning Stylophone CPM DS-2, changing tones that sit somewhere between bird calls and mechanical alarms. At times, I touch the tape during playback to slightly shift its character.
