Shepherd Signals - collab with @Playtronica Still deep in my Orbita experiments, I’ve been shaping real-time bird calls, weaving them together with generative textures that live on tape. In this session, I layered in two vinyl field recordings: one of a forest’s subtle breath, and another—more unexpected—of a Caucasian shepherd dog barking in Juta, a quiet mountain village in Georgia. The Orbita acts as a controller for the Hachijo Tape Manipulator, a Max for Live device running on a Mac. Each colored point on the Orbita triggers a semi-random bird phrase, so the output always walks the line between familiarity and surprise. All of this unfolds in a single room, its natural acoustics coloring every sound.
