I learnt an amazing new word yesterday : ✨ PALIMPSEST! ✨ Do you know what it means? “Something reused or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier forms” - often used to describe a manuscript or piece of writing material on which later writing has been superimposed on effaced earlier writing. 📜 I think it can be used in this example of discovering these beautiful ‘ghosts’ of handwriting and text on the spine pieces inside these books ❤️ The printed text I found within the spine is a page from an old book catalogue, from the bindery that made this book! An example of a book listing I can make out: ‘CHARLIE SCOTT; or, There’s Time enough.
