About The Moog modular synthesizer demonstrated Mp3 Sound Effect

The Moog modular synthesizer demonstrated in an episode of Tomorrow’s World, 1969. The British television series highlighted contemporary developments in science and technology, and was first broadcast in July of 1965 on BBC1. In the late 1960s, it was almost unfathomable that synthesizers might soon become a fixture in a huge variety of genres, from pop to jazz to progressive rock. Even the term itself, “synthesizer”, was still relatively brand new. Robert Moog invented the Moog modular synthesizer in 1964, guided by suggestions and requests from composers including Herb Deutsch, Richard Teitelbaum, Vladimir Ussachevsky and Wendy Carlos. It consisted of separate modules (voltage-controlled oscillators, amplifiers, filters, etc.) that could be connected via patch cords to create and shape sound. The Guardian wrote that the Moog synthesizer, with its dramatically new sounds, arrived at a time in American history when, in the wake of the Vietnam War, “nearly everything about the old order was up for revision”. The first models were mainly owned by universities or record labels, often used for research, corporate jingles or film soundtracks. By 1970, only 28 were owned by musicians! Early adopters included Dick Hyman, Perrey and Kingsley, Wendy Carlos, Mort Garson; Doug McKechnie appeared with it on “What’s Become of the Baby”, on Grateful Dead’s Aoxomoxoa, 1969. In rock music, the Moog synthesizer can be heard on the Doors’ “Strange Days” in 1967, the Monkees album Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd in 1967. The Beatles used it on Abbey Road and George Harrison released an album of Moog recordings, called Electronic Sound in 1969. It would soon become a staple of progressive rock, used by Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The Minimoog would be released shortly afterward, a more affordable, portable version of the modular Moog synthesizer. This would be used by artists like Jan Hammer, Herbie Hancock, Sun Ra and more.
