Killer Couple On The Run: Shakashead - KZN Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) is seeking public assistance in locating a couple (picture 1) who killed a single father in the presence of his six (6) year old daughter on Saturday evening. The information posted below was supplied by the victims mother in law who has made contact with the RUSA Headquarters seeking assistance in apprehending the couple on the run. The information supplied is based on eye witness account of the murder. According to the mother in law, Doctor William Mputhi (33) was from QwaQwa - Northeastern Free State & moved in with her in Shakashead - KZN with his daughter after his wife passed on in 2020. Mputhi (picture 2) operated a construction business registered as Mr Cladding. He serviced the Ballito, Morningside, Umhlanga & La Lucia areas in Kwazulu Natal. On Saturday at approximately 11:30, while walking to a local store with his daughter, William Mputhi was assaulted by a loan shark. The loan shark was infuriated after a R750 was borrowed by Mputhi's tenants & not paid back. He had stood in as a guarantor for the loan in an attempt to assist his tenants & thier minor child. Upset that he was assaulted in the presence of his daughter, Mputhi returned home and confronted the female tenant & an altercation broke out regarding the payback of the money. At that stage, the female tenant (34) identified as Nicolene Pillay threatened to have her landlord killed when her husband returned. She then locked herself in the room till 18:30 the same afternoon. When her husband identified as Mevedran Reddy (34) returned, they confronted Mputhi on the driveway of his home while he was bringing in a cupboard. The couple attacked him with a sickle, a sharp bladed tool usually used for harvesting crops. He was slashed & stabbed repeatedly on his stomach, rib cage & chest. Witnesses reported hearing Reddy scream that nobody would touch his wife & live. He was seen fleeing the scene with his wife & a blood dripping sickle in hand. Doctor William Mphuthi was declared dead on arrival (DOA) at a medical facility in Tongaat - KZN. Minutes after the murder, Nicolene Pillay, Mevendran Reddy & their three (3) year old child fled the area after hopping over a fence. They have not been seen since. According to the information provided, Pillay lived in Richards Bay - KZN and Reddy who was employed at a breakdown/towing company & lived in Shakaskraal - KZN. Both moved in to the Shakashead - KZN four (4) months prior to the murder. Their social media accounts have since been deleted & the picture posted (image 1) was retrieved from another loan shark, used for an application.
