The making of a rounded spine text block ✨ 2021 me would have been in disbelief that I have grown this much as an artist and bookbinder - making journals of my own original design, about to become a published author, excited for the possibilities of what’s next. ln 2021 I was beyond burnt out with EI payments running out, while deciding to move to a new city. Anxiety and depression made everything look bleak and I didn’t think I could hold a job. Bookbinding was my comfort and it felt like the only thing I could lean on for income, even if it was just enough to get by. Building Bitter Melon Bindery into a FT job gave me the sense of purpose I needed to lift myself out of a rut. It became something to get out of bed for.
