His old Mongol-style boots smell like horse sweat and broken dreams. His attendants suggest modern Persian styles, but Timur snarls, “If these shoes do not scream power, I shall scream bloodshed.” ⸻ ACT II: SHAH ABBAS, SHOE SALESMAN Unfortunately for everyone, the cashier at the Royal Sole Emporium is Shah Abbas I himself, moonlighting in disguise to “experience the lives of his subjects.” (Also, he’s banned from the palace for a week after trying to turn the throne room into a wine fountain.) Wearing a fake mustache and a very real attitude problem, Abbas greets Timur with a smug grin: Abbas: “Welcome, honored sir! May I interest you in our ‘Silk Road Supreme’ sandals? Now with extra heel support for warlords with… orthopedic history?” Timur: “Boy, I have shattered skulls younger than your sales pitch.” Timur demands something “battle-chic, blasphemously comfortable, and terrifying to look at.” Abbas brings out the “Flaming Tabriz Talaria”, a monstrosity of red leather, gold trim, and literal horsehair tassels. Timur: “They look like a demon skinned a goat and made it fabulous.” Abbas (proudly): “Exactly.” ⸻ ACT III: FITTING ROOM CHAOS Timur attempts to try them on. His generals gather like nervous pigeons. Suddenly, a struggle erupts. The shoes are too tight. Timur screams. Abbas laughs. Abbas: “Maybe if you took off that 14th-century foot armor—” Timur: “This armor is my foot.” They wrestle. One shoe flies into a jar of saffron. A child screams. A lute player begins playing suspenseful music. A merchant faints. Timur finally gets one shoe on. He rises. Timur: “I feel… invincible.” Abbas: “That’s the arch support.” ⸻ ACT IV: THE BARGAIN OF BLOOD Timur, now enchanted by the shoes, asks the price. Abbas (deadpan): “Three cities, two camels, and an IOU for Samarkand.” Timur (draws sword): “How about your life and a coupon?” They glare. An old woman coughs awkwardly. A cat knocks over a sandal rack. Then Abbas winks. Abbas: “Just kidding. First pair’s free if you post about us on Messenger Pigeon Weekly.” Timur grunts, takes the shoes, and on the way out, leaves a bloody thumbprint on the store sign. A week later, shoe sales explode. ⸻ EPILOGUE Abbas becomes a fashion icon. Timur launches his own line called “CrippleCore™.” The bazaar forever tells the tale of The Day the Lame Man Walked Fierce.
