PEDAL DEMO: Rowin Harmonizer (pitch down mode) Hello friends! today I have another 3rd-party/commercial effects pedal demo featuring the Rowin Harmonizer. I actually received this pedal by accident- weird Temu mixup, but I've kept it around! I'll be the first to say that this pedal sucks. There is an audible delay before the octave sound comes on, and this occurs in pretty much every mode. The octave sounds are not clean, and the mixing can be tricky. BUT, I do use this pedal if I have wet and dry effect chains, and this pedal gets paired with some delay and reverb, which helps hide the delay and can help clean up the octave signal a bit. Again, if you wanted like a proper live harmonizer, get the Boss one or a Whammy or something else. It doesn't work fast enough to make it usable that way, though again, for ambience and noise and things of the like, this pedal will add a very unique tonal flavor. More info: Little Tykes piano polysynth conversion. The original circuit didn't have any fun pitch-bending options, so I designed a scheme where each button triggers a 555 timer, and each note has its own chip and pitch control. you can tune the notes individually, and they range a couple octaves. Produces big square wave chords and sounds excellent when notes are tuned in unison. sadly, the black keys aren't functional, but the action is pretty good on the playable keys. the left switch toggles the synth or piano, and the top switch sends the synths to the output RCA jack or to the speaker. stay tuned for more circuit bends! #circuitbent #circuitbending #synthtok #noise #synth #DIY #electronics #audio #synthtok
PEDAL DEMO: H2O by VisualSound Hello again friends! today I have another synthesizer + effects pedal demo, and this one features the VisualSound H2O dual chorus/delay effects pedal. This demo features my MIDI'd Casio CT-320 and is recorded DI with an interface. I design, build, and sell effects pedals myself, and those can be found primarily on ~ Vibrolo dot com ~ and some on Reverb, though Vibrolo takes priority for new builds generally. So I have mixed feelings about this pedal. I got it in a trade, and I was eager to find out what was inside and how it sounded. My review for the chorus side of the H2O is 9/10 - it's a superb bright analog chorus with a very unique tone and has multiple delay time controls. My only note is that I wish it had a tone knob lol. I've looked inside this pedal as well, and there was a BL3102/BL3207 chipset, confirmed analog chorus. And for the delay side, oof, it kinda sucks. Inside, there is a massive CPU chip that handles the digital :( delay. I had high hopes for this, since I didn't see a PT2399 I figured that it might be a clean digital delay with tons of memory, but alas, it sounds worse than most PT circuits, and it's analog-modeled which just means it's filtered. Too much filtering, and the repeat knob has strange behavior. I will note that when both effects are active, it definitely 100% sounds like you are playing underwater. I may hate the delay part, but this pedal absolutely delivers on its H2O namesake.
