About Dr.lindaxing Sound Effects

1. Dermatology wasn’t actually my first choice of specialty. I had my eyes set on another surgical specialty, which I didn’t match into—but I am so, so, SO grateful that I ended up in dermatology. I truly couldn’t be happier doing the work I do. It’s true what they say: when one door closes, another one opens. ✨ 2. I still struggle with imposter syndrome on a regular basis. Even after 13 years of schooling to become a dermatologist and another year to become a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, that inferiority complex is hard to shake after years of chasing your goal and telling myself “I’m not good enough”. These days, I’m working on being kinder to myself—seeing my life through the eyes of 20-year-old me, who would’ve died for what I’ve accomplished today. ❤️ 3. Scarcity mindset is ingrained in me. As an immigrant, I came to Canada with my parents when I was 12, and my family went through tough financial times. I got my first job at 14 and had to contribute financially in one way or another ever since. To this day, I still feel a little guilty splurging on everyday things—like a fancy coffee. ☕️ But that scarcity mindset shaped my drive, ambition, and work ethic, so I try to see it as a superpower I was blessed with growing up. 4. I don’t have a lot of friends. I was always an introvert—the nerdy, shy kid in school. Being social was never my forte. I have a few great friends I’ve kept from different stages of my life, but I don’t spend as much time with them as I’d like. 5. I constantly feel pulled between work, kids, marriage, and my personal “self.” You can have it all—just not all at once. So, I try to prioritize what matters most at certain times. During the week, I focus on work. Evenings and weekends are for my family. I try to leave a chunk of Sunday just for myself. ☀️ #medicinelife #immigrantlife #dermatologist #dermresidency

#ad #BioOilPartner 🧡 This is what I've done for my pregnancy stretch marks as a dermatologist Stretch marks are essentially tears or small scars in the skin when it stretches too much too quickly. Technically speaking, they are permanent and not preventable, but you can reduce their appearance and likelihood with regular skincare. During pregnancy, the body goes through rapid changes that make stretch marks more likely, especially in areas like the belly, thighs, and breasts. 🤰 While genetics play a role, moisturizing and promoting collagen production with products like Bio-Oil can help minimize their appearance 🧴 I recommend applying Bio Oil twice a day and massaging it into the skin for at least 5 min to boost collagen remodeling. Be consistent and give it some time to see results! ⏳ For in office treatments of stretch marks, consult your dermatologist for laser and energy-based devices! #stretchmarks #striae #BioOil #pregnancy

Confession... I don’t reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours—and I’m a dermatologist. 😬 Yes, we as derms tell people to reapply sunscreen all the time. But the truth? Most modern sunscreens are now incredibly stable and offer protection for 8+ hours. So why the constant reapplying advice? 🧴 Because people don’t apply enough in the first place. A study in the British Journal of Dermatology found that most people apply only 25–50% of the recommended sunscreen amount. That means you're starting off under-protected. Plus, sunscreen gets wiped off during the day—touching your face, sweating, water contact—you name it. Reapplying isn't about the formula wearing off; it's about reinforcing an even film of coverage. ✨ So if I’m working indoors all day, I’m not reapplying. I do make sure to get my full 2-finger rule application in the morning though! ‼️I will ALWAYS reapply sunscreen when 1️⃣ I’m exercising or in the water 2️⃣voutdoors
Did you know your nails can give a glimpse into your internal health? 🧐💅 1️⃣ Clubbed nails – When your nails start curving like a spoon upside down, it could signal lung disease or heart issues 2️⃣ No lunula (the little half-moon at the base) – This could hint at anemia or circulation problems. 3️⃣ Koilonychia (spoon-shaped nails) – I suggest a check on your iron levels if you have multiple spoon-shaped nails, although these are normal and common in infants! #NailHealth #CheckYourNails #dermatologist #nailsigns
Have you seen these nails changed? 💅 1️⃣ Small, random pits in the nails can be a sign of psoriasis, while a regular, grid-like pattern of pits is more commonly linked to alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss. 2️⃣ Beau’s lines (horizontal grooves across all nails) can indicate a major illness, severe stress, or injury that temporarily halted nail growth. 3️⃣ Longitudinal ridges? In most cases, they’re a normal part of aging (sorry! 😅), but they can also be associated with iron deficiency in some individuals. Stay tuned for Part 3—how bad manicures can change your nails! #naildisease #nailchanges #nailproblems #dermatologist #officehumor
