Nancy sunberg passed away due to pancreatic cancer October fourth of 2021. This was three months before her niece isla was born. Two and a half years before her second niece Wyatt was born. Nancy worked at a school where she taught special education, every student, staff and parents loved her because of how she treated every single human being with love and care like everyone should be treated. The day of her wake I was a mess just thinking about what I could say, I regret not stepping up and speaking, but I’m glad I heard the others speak about her, I learned how she would dance in the butterfly garden at the school in her old lady moccasins and talk about the flowers, I learned she would invite family’s over for beauitful dinners, the same ones I had since I was a kid. My aunt Nancy taught me that everyone deserves to be loved. She was the one person in this world that I believe only had goodness in her soul. A few months before she passed, I had the chance to go and see her, I made the decision to stay home and play video games. To me I thought “ I can see her next time” I didn’t know that next time would be in her butterfly garden at her home where I was crying as we buried her ashes. Aunt Nancy taught me that even if our flowers die in the December, we always grow new ones in the spring and they will grow brighter and taller.
