The cancelled Stranger Things game was an episodic adventure title that had been announced in June 2018 as part of a partnership between Netflix and Telltale Games, with the story planned to take place in the spring of 1985 to bridge the events between Seasons 2 and 3 of the hit series. Unfortunately, the project was abruptly cancelled just a few months later when Telltale laid off most of its staff and effectively shut down in September 2018, ending development before the game could be released. At the same time, a companion project codenamed Kids Next Door was also in development at Night School Studio, meant to act as a narrative precursor to the Telltale title with choices that could carry between games, but it too quietly evaporated after Telltale’s collapse.
