In 2018 I was living out of my aunt’s 1999 GMC Sierra. A few weeks before I called my boss high on drugs, cussed him out and quit. My car got repoed. I got evicted from my apartment. The power had already been out for weeks. I burned every bridge I had with my mouth. I had nothing. Couldn’t pay my phone bill. I couldn’t even afford a haircut. No references. No way out. Except to get sober and claw and scratch. And that’s EXACTLY what I did. Now people stop and ask me to take a picture with them. So forgive me if I dance a little bit. Because if you knew where I came from… The addiction. The sexual trauma. The rehabs. The parental neglect and abuse as a child. If you knew how far down I was, you’d be dancing too. So go ahead and enjoy me or judge me. I honestly don’t care. At the end of the day, I know who I am. I know I’m on the right path. I know it’s all in purpose. And I’m proud of the man I am and the man I’m becoming. I’m sober, happy, and FREE! My Muscleshuffle is a reflection of that.
