As I’m laying here in Berlin before flying to Paris in a few hours, it hit me that while this album is all about trying to be present, it’s one of the hardest things to do. When we care about something (or someone) we work hard to back it up. I’ve been working hard ever since I learned how, and it’s taken me around the world, but also removed me from what I love and care about. Being present requires us to be aware of ourselves, and for some of us, that means being isolated. For me, that perspective is only gained by being with those I love and who love me. This album has moments of isolation, and others that feel like an embrace. I hope, wherever you are, this album keeps you company.
