These last twelve days have been a jumble of shock and grief as we try to make sense of what’s happened and stumble through the unrelenting sadness. Rob’s character is woven into the DNA of Strike Anywhere. He joined the ensemble in 2001 and remained a core member ever since. Rob wrote scenes, composed songs, acted, and played brass instruments but his voice on the trumpet was singular. From the hilarious commercials he wrote for Finding One, to his unforgettable Frackasaur in Same River, to playing a rabbit, a punk rocker, and more in POP UP, Rob showed up with a smile, creativity, and stunning music. He was one hell of a musician. This past year, Rob was devastated by the illness and loss of his beloved wife, Natascha. Her death left him heartbroken. His grief manifested in terrible insomnia and an ulcer. He was scheduled to see his doctor just hours before he died. The heartbreak of his loss is felt around the world. We’ve received messages from so many of you who were moved by Rob’s brilliance on stage and his kindness off it. He will be deeply, wholly missed—but never forgotten. Dear Rob, we love you, brother.
