Hometown Pride! I grew up in Northeast Texas and have spent most of my life here. Music runs deep in this iconic stateline area of the twin cities Texarkana, TX, and Texarkana, AR. This region has a rich history of hosting legendary talents. The Arkansas Municipal Auditorium welcomed icons like Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Johnny Cash during their Louisiana Hayride circuit tours. Across the border in Texas, the historic Perot Theatre, formerly the Saenger Theatre, has hosted legends like Annie Oakley and Will Rogers. Today, it continues to showcase a variety of performances, including comedians, operas, musicals, and the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra. (Our son, Trae, has performed with the orchestra and will again in a few weekends!) Texarkana is also the birthplace of renowned artists, including Scott Joplin and Otis Williams founder/ member of The Temptations. I also had the pleasure of meeting two kind gentlemen while taking photos. They were eager to try TWBS, and I enjoyed hearing their stories. One of them, Carlos, is an Army veteran, and it was a privilege getting to know him.
