Soviak Afghan Civilians - In addition to the U.S. military personnel, at least 160 Afghan civilians died in the attack, with other reports placing the number around 170. Thousands of Afghan civilians were at Abbey Gate seeking evacuation at the time of the bombing. The Attack - The attack occurred on August 26, 2021, during the U.S. military's withdrawal from Afghanistan.
