About #MusicMonday: Over 50+ years ago Mp3 Sound Effect
#MusicMonday: Over 50+ years ago now, BTO released our debut album. It had no hits but after our second and third albums took off with "Let it Ride" and Takin' Care of Business", it went gold with songs like "Blue Collar" and "Gimme Your Money Please" gaining some traction. We believed in our working class, gritty style even though it was something different at the time. Thank you to everyone who began the journey with us in '73 and heard something that clicked. There were three Bachmans and a Turner at the time, so we called ourselves Bachman-Turner, but we were getting very weird bookings. At the time there was Seals & Crofts, Brewer & Shipley and we'd get booked as Bachman & Turner to play coffee houses. We'd set up this wall of amps and go and blow coffee mugs off the table with our music. They thought we were a folk duo. Taking a cue from a trucker magazine, we added Overdrive and thus Bachman-Turner Overdrive was officially born. Because "Blue Collar" still remains such a favourite, we're playing it on our current tour as a shoutout to all those who work hard to keep life steady.
