Clint Black, Killin’ Time, original LP version from 1989. So I bought this record with my birthday money, I finally found it at a decent price. I got to Killin’ Time and it sounded different. I was very confused, I thought maybe it was a re-recording or something. But no, this is the original take of the song. The song, that, surprisingly, almost didn’t make it onto the album and was a last edition. When this album released, Clint only had one single from it, Nobody’s Home (with the B side being Winding Down). The version of Killin’ Time that we all know and love, and went on to be his second number 1 song, is a re-recorded, more polished version. The B side to the Killin’ Time single is I’ll Be Gone, which wasn’t recorded for the record or cassette release, but was on the CD release. I find this stuff very fascinating, and I think with this version of the song being slightly different is a reason why this album is so rare and expensive. It’s very rare for this to happen, we usually don’t get to hear something like this, all I can really think of to compare this to is David Lee Murphy’s hit, Party Crowd. In the original 45 and radio single, the begging had a little instrumental intro and had more instruments during the begging: “she couldn’t keep from crying, when she told me goodbye” bit.
