Many consumers I spoke with, started experiencing outages as early as 11a. I don’t think I noticed until 2p. I was on WiFi most of the day. Around 2p I noticed the SOS. I shrugged it off. 3p I was concerned. 3:30. I tried to reset my phone. 4:30 to Verizon I go. I have two phones with Verizon one was working. The other stayed on SOS for 7hrs. The one that was “working” only worked for calls. No texting , no internet. It was quite the experience to be living like it’s 1999 in the year 2025. I met people from all over the globe. Many on vacation. Visiting Clearwater Beach. Storming the Verizon stores in a panic. So, far away from home and unable to use gps. No way to phone home. No clue how to get back to their hotels or airbnbs. The outage was more than no one calls to besties. More than no social media scrolling. People were really in a bad spot without their phones. Many families entered the store with members on the same plan. One with a device that worked. The other SOS. Someone mentioned that it was a test. Of course the foil hats came out after that comment.
