One of those towns you only hear of but never get to go to. Cape Cod. Santa Barbara. Martha’s Vineyard. I’d like to go to prom. Play high school basketball. Marry the girl who sang in the musicals, the editor of the yearbook. And have a 3 story house. And a beach house. And a cabin. And a lake house in Michigan. Wake boarding. Crisp clean crack of soda pop. salt water taffy. Mackinac Island peanut butter chocolate fudge. A matriarch holding the family together like warm caramel, like cottage cheese pancakes, like the sweet smoke of sage, Kitaro and Enya and Deep Breakfast on the stereo.
