I enjoyed this so much. Listening the audiobook at the same time was so good ! This was beautifully written. I really love Jessie’s style of writing. I couldn’t put it down. I was feeling every single words. Let me tell you, you are in for a ride of emotions. From good to bad and all. It kept me on the edge the entire time. All I can say is, Skyler and Nolan story stole my heart. It is taboo, yes, the age gap is a big deal ( Nolan is struggling about it throughout almost the entire book) . 14 years age gap : Skyler is barely 18 and Nolan is 32. But they click, they… just work . I can’t describe it , they are two different person, from two different home situations, with two opposite personalities, but they are just good for one another. In a way, it’s something forbidden, dangerous but in another they make sense. Ugh so conflicting. 😅it's fictional so, it's true love. 😌 Skyler and Nolan are two broken souls , they cross path in this rehab facility / resort / paradise called Black Diamond. Skyler is a hurricane , in the literal,formal and true sense. You really need to read the book to understand his personality. His intern storm, his struggles, His behaviour. You can feel all his feelings and emotions through the reading. He is there because of his horribly trash parents , who don’t accept him the way he is, who don’t love him 💔. He was put in numerous places, put in different facilities for trouble behavior, they made him go into conversion therapy. They made him think that desiring another man was a sin. Made him believe something was wrong with him. But he just wants to live and feel normal.Nolan is there because he is a divorced alcoholic.He feels guilt about his past actions . His drinking habits lead him into an unfortunate situation, where he put his little 2 year old daughter in danger. This story is about two men who find each other’s in the most difficult times of their lives, they are both drowning . They discover and re-discover themselves . Their journey starts with a bit of angst with each other. But their attraction and chemistry 🔥is undeniable. When the lines are blurred,it’s after experiencing a real life nightmare together, something that will tie their bond forever . That particular day changed their lives in a deeply emotional way. Nolan is experiencing something new, this pull for this young man , it’s something he doesn’t know how to deal with.He had never been attracted to men before. So he doesn’t understand ..why him ? On the other hand, Skyler is full aware of his sexuality,since he was a kid. He has little experience.. but he is a virgin. He knows his attraction for Nolan can cause him problems. They gave into this explosive passion and lust and decide they will experience together until they are in Rehab. This thing between them has an expiration date. They know. It’s only a past time. A way to experience and enjoy their time while in rehab.They think .When times comes to say goodbye the damaged is already done. Scary feelings are involved. Two hearts are shattered in pieces ( 3 with mine) 😅 and what’s left is the irreparable heartbreak. “Don’t regret this when it’s over. “ is one thing Skyler tells Nolan. Realization of strong feelings.Fear. But now it’s too late. Reality hits harder . Nolan is free to go, he can go back home, get back to his daughter.❤️‍🩹I recommend the audiobook, the two male narrators were truly phenomenal. Amazing narration.
