Today I’m building MKC75 by MyKeyClub (the makers of JRIS) and here’s my thoughts about it! ❗ MKC75 group buy is live from August 5th-31th, check out MyKeyClub for more information . ✔️ The good ✔️ - There’s A LOT of customization options, ranging from multiple case colors and finishes, weight colors, badge and knob options, and so on. This kit also accommodates options for both flex cut and non-flex cut PCBs and plates. - Three different mounting options: top mount, plate gasket mount and PCB gasket mount. You will get all the parts for each mounting style and it’s great to test things out all within the same board. - The price: the total is going to vary depending on the combination of parts, but the average price without shipping should fall between $140-180. This makes MKC75 an even cheaper custom kit than JRIS75, and its similar competitors like Zoom75 and QK75. If you’re strictly looking at the price for a similar keyboard, this might be the best one out there so far. - The sound is very good! I built mine with all the included foam (IXPE switch pad, poron plate foam and case foam) and the typing sound is full and clean, without sounding too foamy or muted. There’s no pinging/hollowness from the case. The case and weights give the build good heftiness and acoustics. . ❌ Still room for improvement ❌ - I have the E-coat Milky White case, and while I like the even and smooth finish, it does scratch quite easily around screw holes and the USB-port. - The building process with the JST cable was quite awkward, however I think this might be changed in the final batch. If you’re looking to get the LED sign/knob, know that it can be very annoying trying to attach the cable. For beginners, I’d recommend building without it. ✏️ Overall, the MKC75 is a great, affordable and accessible kit, especially for beginner keyboard enthusiasts. Its strong points are definitely in the amount of customization options and the quality for the price paid.
