It was a long road, but through the hard work of Dr. Gloriajean Wallace with Plural Publishing, the grind with Haley Fulk one of my dearest friends, the support of Jeffrey Edwards getting us on this project in the first place, and Dr. Shatonda Jones submitting a wonderful case study for us (even when I could be difficult and perfectionistic - you deserved better than that, friend)… we made it! Wallace Our chapter: “Ethical Perspectives for Serving 2SLGBTQIA+ Individuals with Neurogenic Considerations” by Ruchi Kapila and Haley Fulk This chapter for us on serving 2SLGBTQIA+ folks in the area of neurorehab was so important to all of us - so much queer and trans erasure can happen to patients in medical settings where they are at their most vulnerable, and particularly when they are elders. When others claim DEI education is performative, we respond with the real examples and lived experience we see every day and are supported by our allies, accomplices, true heart family and friends. Let’s make SLP responsive for all people and practitioners, not just in gender affirming voice care. It’s time.
