Our Fable girl. Adopting a reactive dog with fear based aggression is a road that is windy and long but has proven incredibly rewarding. It’s been over two years since we took Fable home from a shelter in Romania. We didn’t know Fable struggled with these issues when we first met her because luckily she felt comfortable with both of us right away, making the decision to be her forever home an easy one. When we started to see her behavioral patterns towards other people taking place we knew we had a lot to learn to make her feel safe and encouraged. A life before rescue of feeling scared and not knowing who to trust takes its toll and showing her she can be at peace now is our mission every day. After initially only feeling safe around Steven and I, we are so proud to say that through lots of patience and lots of trial and error, as of today Fable has upwards of 25 people she deems friends!!! While it has been challenging at times, her progress with people and other animals in just 2 years has been so incredible and learning how to be her best cheerleaders has been a pleasure. Her and our Jesse boy are our world. Having a front row seat to Fables progress has been so heart opening and mind blowing, somehow you can tell that she actively tries her hardest everyday not to let her anxiety run her life. Dogs will surprise you by how much they teach you about yourself. She is the sweetest and purest soul who just needs a little extra care, and everyday that she exists in this world she is exuding massive bravery.
