"ππ€π’ππ©πππ£π 'π½π€πͺπ© π½πππ£ππ§ππππ" - ππ€π£π ππ©π€π§πππ¨ I went on a roadtrip through the Pacific Northwest with some college friends in the fall of 2022, and it was the first time I had been back in that hyper-communal, round-the-clock friends atmosphere since graduating. I had enjoyed my first year living alone in San Francisco but sort of forgot how warm and fulfilling that feeling of being in a group was. One afternoon late in the trip while at a cabin near Mount Rainier, I took my guitar outside for a few hours and tried to write something that captured that feeling. I strummed around endless for probably an hour and a half until I stumbled onto the line, βI guess itβs something βbout Bainbridge,β and the rest of the song flowed from there. I lost a full year of my life trying to figure out the production. I always heard it as more of a pop song even if I wrote it on an acoustic guitar, and finding that balance between the two was a freaking nightmare. No combination of instruments felt right until I added these funny βOHHH wahhahh ohhhhβ backing vocals to the main riff, and that glued the whole thing together for some reason. Bainbridge is a small city and island off the coast of Washington. I have never been to Bainbridge.
