My work is never finished. My day runs into the next and I’m constantly just demanding more of an already exhausted person. I become burdensome to people around me. I’m at my wits end, and my lack of respect for myself turns into a lack of respect for others, and I’m visibly confused because isn’t everyone like this? Why is it such a shock to people that I’m short tempered or rude or dry or tired or disinterested. How is everyone doing so much? So happy all the time? I can’t pretend because I get angry, and then I feel like everyone else is pretending and I get angrier. And then I get sorrowful, am I just too much and not enough all at the same time? Ever feel like that? You’re not alone. In an age of online comparison where we see great figures of history and influence we often wonder if we can ever live up to this idea of ourselves. We feel bound by our circumstance and as though our potential is just going into things that don’t even reciprocate. Just trying to make ends meet in an ever-hungry world. Surrounded by water and dying of thirst. Don’t give up. You don’t have to do it all today, you don’t have to have the answers tonight. You don’t have to rush it. You’re going in the right direction, even if you feel you’re on the wrong road… we all end up here. Here. Just people with bones and stories and details that never get remembered except in funny ways we could never imagine. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
