During the Victorian era, gardens often showcased exotic plants, offering locals a rare glimpse of species they would likely never encounter otherwise. The Halifax Public Gardens continues this tradition, with its exotic beds featuring non-native plants like Agave and cacti. We next head to the Halifax Citadel, a historic fortification site, that was the center to the establishment of the city, when the British settled here in 1749.
