My sweet Wink has passed away and quite simply … I’m heart broken. 🐭💔 She suddenly fell ill about 2 weeks ago and I did everything I could to save her. But for the first time in my many years of caring for rats, nothing I tried helped. Her little body would not respond to anything and I slowly saw her getting worse and worse. The last thing I wanted was for her to suffer, so I made the painful decision to let her go and help her crossover. 💛 What was different about this passing, was that she was so alert and bright eyed. Usually when rats are sick, their hair puffs up, their eyes squint and they get listless. But not Wink, she kept fighting and fighting, and even on her last day, she stayed present and looked deeply at me until the very end. Wink was my soul rat ... my heart. She picked me when I first met her and we immediately had this special connection. This loss has been very painful. 😞 Not just for me, but for her beautiful sister Pocket as well. She is having a rough time without Wink, they were incredibly bonded and the best of friends. I’m trying my best to be with Pocket as she seems confused where Wink is. ✨ I often posted silly videos of Wink because she was a SUPER fun rat. Always running around, playing and had a huge personality ... but what I didn’t show often was all the beautiful, quiet, moments we shared. My days with her were always filled with her either on my belly snuggling against me, or laying on my chest looking deeply into my eyes. Always close. Always loving. Always in my heart. 💖 I love you so much Wink! Goodbye my love. Thank you for being in my life. I will miss you forever. We are one. ✨ Now... “Sleep little one, just close your eyes.
