it's okay to not like spiders. it's okay to have a phobia of spiders. it's okay to say "that's not my cup of tea, but I'm glad it makes you happy". it's okay to say "I don't understand the appeal, but I support your choices". what's not okay is constantly being beaten down over something I genuinely love. "love the unloved, in whatever form they come in". that is what I live by. these are creatures that naturally exist in the wild, and tiktok can't even handle a photograph of one. immediately after commenting, the notifications came in that my comments were removed. there's no way my comments were reported by anyone, tiktok took them down within literal seconds. every time I appealed, it was approved and my content was restored, so why would they bother continually removing my comments? this is why I don't post videos of my tarantulas like I originally wanted to. that is why on my YouTube channel you'll find an empty playlist titled "My Exotic Pets". back when I was trying to share my pets, I got flooded with "step on it", "kill it with fire", "where's the Raid spray when you need it", "that's disgusting", "ew I hate spiders", ect. I don't understand the hype around Labubus, but I support the happiness they bring to people. I don't understand why anyone would enjoy math, but I support anyone who does and I'm actually impressed by them bc I'm horrible at math. I have a phobia of water unless it's a pool or a shower, but I support people who enjoy swimming in the lakes and oceans. fear doesn't have to mean violence or hatred. fear should lead to developing respect and understanding. I'm terrified of lakes and oceans, so what did I do? I did research on how to cope with that fear, and even though I am petrified I will still at least TRY to get in the water with my friends and family and if I can't do it everyone tells me hey that's okay you tried and that's what matters to us is your effort. the way you handle your fear can be reworked, it's absolutely possible and I wish more people would be willing to try. I wish that sharing less common pets wasn't so "taboo", I wish my pets could just be appreciated for being living things for once.
