Let me be clear: I am not. I do not represent any political party, and I did not name myself after anyone in politics. I am simply Ousainou Darboe — a journalist, not a politician. Some have even avoided following or associating with me because they assume I am politically biased. That perception has cost me opportunities and relationships that could have helped me grow in this field. It is for this reason that I sometimes use the label “female” alongside my name — not to seek special treatment, but to help clarify who I am (That I’m not a man) I hope this clears the air.
