I’ve done social media full time for 2 years and it’s got to the point where I’ve realised, it doesn’t fulfil me and actually drains me quite a lotttt! I never set out to even be an influencer, but naturally you kind of just fall into that in order to make money from your content and be able to do what you do and from a far; it sounds like the dream job, working from home; earning good money etc. but the reality is rather lonely, full of comparison; not earning half as much as your neurotypical peers, or in my case, nor even getting a look in to the same opportunities. After a while, it’s taken its toll on me and I’ve just realised that there really is more to life! Whilst I love making content and sharing my experience with adhd; lipoedema etc, I don’t love my worth and financial security being tied to something that also makes me feel rather rubbish! I’ll still be posting, but not taking it half as seriously. So I’m not going anywhere, but I’ll hopefully be starting a work from home part time job in September that means I can pay my bills and just have social media be a hobby again; something fun to share my journey and connect with people rather than be a full on numbers game. I have my lipoedema surgery in October so I’ll be sharing that journey with you and also something exciting I’m working on that I get to share with you too soon(ish) - so I’ll deffo still be here!
