From vinyl listening parties to contemplative night walks with cassettes in portable players, music has always been something I enjoyed. When I was at UW Milwaukee, I was introduced to the four-track cassette recorder, and the seed to create music was planted. Early four-track sessions of guitar and vocals expanded to include sequencers and loops. Eventually, I decided to pursue a degree in music production in Minneapolis. The skills learned there, along with the advent of affordable multitrack recording software for home studios, allowed me to explore music as another creative outlet. Admittedly, I felt conflicted about pursuing another passion. Artists were supposed to pick one medium and stick with it, but that mindset wasn't for me. I learned that the "concept" dictated the medium, so I embraced it and challenged the adage, "jack of all trades, master of none". "In Pause" was my first official EP release in 2001.
