Can I be honest? Along this journey with Jesus I’ve battled heavily with shame. Shame from my past sins. Shame from the terrible decisions I have made. The things I’ve done to hurt people because of trauma. That same shame lead me into paralyzing fear. Fear of making mistakes. Fear of hurting people I love. Fear of failure. This has lead me into deep places of isolation and darkness. I’ve battled with this for years even as a Christian. I always knew ABOUT the love of God. How He forgives our sins through Jesus Christ and by grace through faith we are redeemed from our past. But still I tormented and punished myself for the things that I’ve done. I’ve always had a hard time accepting the love of God. And still to this very moment I battle at times. And if that’s you as well, I want to share this scripture … Romans 8:1 “So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.” I pray that as you sit and listen to this song, you would be reminded of how great the love of God is for you. I pray we would allow Romans 8:1 to wash over our minds and hearts. That we would believe in faith that our past sins and mistakes are washed under His precious blood. When we repent He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us of ALL of our unrighteousness (1 John 1). I pray freedom over you today, in Jesus’ name. That all torment in your mind would cease and that the peace of Christ would reign in your life. Shame is NOT our inheritance as children of God.
