3 years ago i accidentally drove off a bit of a cliff with 2 of my closest friends. At 4 am. 40 miles to the nearest town. The adrenaline rush was unlike anything ive ever experienced. All i could smell was smoke from the airbags. All i could think was “did i just end myself and my two friends?” Losing control in a vehicle is something you don’t understand until it happens, espdcially to that degree. It feels like the world collapses around you. Your brakes don’t work. You can’t steer. Theres so much happening and you can’t process any of it until We hit a tree. My ears rung. In third person, i heard myself yell “get out! Get out!” To my two friends. I did not know if they could. I do not know if they were alive. I think i am, but the adrenaline would hide any injuries. I step out onto the grass, fight through branches, and run in the direction i think is uphill. Aaron and Luka join me. They’re okay. As am i. It took a long time for me to be okay in a car again- and to this day, the three of us are very ancy when driving on mountain roads- to the point where, unless we’re the one driving, we tend to be spooked to say the least. However. The lesson is not “never drive again.” It’s be safe. Don’t drive when you can’t see. Don’t be a stupid kid with a car on roads you don’t know.
