She Came In Through the Bathroom Window is an iconic song and possibly the most favorited on Abbey Road (after Here Comes the Sun, of course). It appears during the epic final medley of the album that combines multiple songs into one cohesive piece. As for who actually came in through a bathroom window, that would be Diane Ashley, just another manic fan. It’s funny that the tune is more of a love song, even though she was a robber! 😂 #songoftheday #musictrivia #musichistory #musicfacts #thebeatles #paulmccartney ##60smusic
When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin is perhaps one of the only songs to challenge Stairway to Heaven in sheer emotion, and it comes from the same album! Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie were two blues artists feeling the effects of The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, a flood that costed at least 3.2 billion dollars (and probably much more) in damage to the people of the Mississippi Delta. Led Zeppelin got to work on their cover at Headley Grange, where an intricate set of microphones, compressors, limiters, and a delay machine created the amazing sound of John Bonham’s drums. Check out Jimmy Page explaining the setup here: https://youtu.be/KWI9bMe7gHE?si=x9p_Rw9dU5vof1m- #songoftheday #musictrivia #musichistory #musicfacts #ledzeppelin #robertplant #johnbonham #headleygrange
Did you know that Neil Young’s song, “Old Man,” was actually dedicated to a real person? I can only imagine how awesome it would feel to listen as Louis Avila, the old man Young wrote the song for. And what a beautiful song it is. With backing vocals from James Taylor and Linda Rondstadt! Neil Young really had it made. That ranch that he purchased, well, he still lives in it! #musicfacts #musictrivia #songoftheday #70smusic #musichistory #neilyoung #jamestaylor #lindarondstadt
Last Train to Clarksville was The Monkees first song ever recorded, and it was a smash hit! Their inception started as an idea for a sitcom starring a fictional band. Songwriters Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart needed their songs to be really good so people would watch the show, so they had the idea to copy successful existing songs by The Beatles. Out of this sprang Last Train to Clarksville, which mimics the guitar sound of Paperback Writer quite obviously. But hey, it worked! The song topped the charts for an entire week in November of 1966. #songoftheday #musictrivia #musichistory #musicfacts #themonkees #60smusic
New Speedway Boogie by The Grateful Dead first debuted live on December 20th of 1970, and was later released on Workingman’s Dead in early 1970. Robert Hunter, the band’s main lyricist, wrote the song in relation to and just two weeks after the Altamont Speedway Free Festival on December 6th. This concert was an utter disaster, ranging from the Hell’s Angels involvement as security, the lack of a raised stage for the bands, and the many relocations of the festival itself, to name a few. Ralph J. Gleason, a well known music critic, published an article blaming The Grateful Dead for for the concert’s failure. So, Hunter wrote New Speedway Boogie as a response! The concert is regarded by many as marking the end of the countercultural movement in the 60s, so I think Hunter’s response was very fair 😂 #songoftheday #musictrivia #musichistory #musicfacts #altamontspeedwayfreefestival #gratefuldead #deadhead

Santo & Johnny Farina were encouraged by their father Tomy to learn Steel Guitar and record music with the Webcor tape recorder he gifted them. What a dad! It’s safe to say they didn’t squander the opportunity, creating a Billboard #1 hit that held for 2 months! The brothers were trying to get it published for a year and a half before they got someone on board! What a great song. #songoftheday #musictrivia #musichistory #musicfacts #sleepwalk #50smusic
Ghost Riders In The Sky by Johnny Cash is a legendary song that tells the tale of cowboys in the sky who wrangle the demon herds up above. It has entered that charts 7 times by different artists from its initial creation in 1948. Stan Jones heard a story by an old Native American of their beliefs that souls reside as spirits in the sky after death. #songoftheday #musictrivia #musichistory #musicfacts #johnnycash
