About Socially__ Sound Effects

Go to the spaces that celebrate your interests. Within the community, there’s groups for almost anything. If there isn’t a group that shares your interest, make one! Being able to relate on something else as well as Deafness makes it easier to feel comfortable. Video Description: The video is a split screen that has the full landscape of Kirsty and Sarah on top with a portrait version underneath that switches between the two women as they talk. @Kirsty Jade💋, a white Deaf woman with a blonde buzzcut and glasses, wears a mixed colour (red, white, yellow, orange, green) graphic oversized tshirt with black flares and ecru crocs. She sits in a dark grey armchair to the right of Sarah with her legs crossed. @Sarah x, a Black Deaf woman with orange braids and glasses, wears a long-sleeved navy blue YALE top with light grey joggers and white airforces. She sits in a light grey armchair to the left of Kirsty with her legs crossed. In between the two women, there is a small table that holds two glasses, a jar of water, a white mug, and a plant. In the background, there is a light box with letters spelling ‘Socially Sound’ next to a microphone, a bag of dried leaves, and a film clapper on a white counter. #SociallySound #DeafPodcast #BSL

Joining a community can be scary, especially when you’re new to it. But, it’s really never too late to join - no matter the age or cause of your hearing loss! If you see a Deaf friend, family member, colleague or person isolating themselves from a conversation. 99% of the time, it’s because they don’t feel included and can’t access the conversation. #fyp #sociallysound #dinnertablesyndrome #podcast
Not many Deaf people actually meet other Deaf people during university and are often disappointed when they expect to and don’t! DSA, which we discuss in a bit more detail in the full video, can be a lengthy process for many so we encourage applicants to do it as soon as they can before their start date! Video Description: @Kirsty Jade✨, a white Deaf woman with a red buzzcut wears dark brown leather jacket with a marble effect, she pairs this with a black shirt and black flares. @Sarah x, a Black Deaf Woman with a black slick ponytail is wearing a black t-shirt with a light brown leather jacket. She wears black jeans. The top third of the video shows both women and the bottom two thirds mainly focuses on whoever is signing/speaking, occasionally switching to the other for a physical / facial reaction. #sociallysound #fyp #deaf #podcast #spotify #youtube #bsl #education
We weren’t going to do any previews for this episode because we wanted to surprise you with this guest episode but we couldn’t hold onto this any longer! We were so thankful that Dr Kate Rowley had accepted our invitation onto our podcast and happily shared her wisdom on the topic of Deaf parents with hearing children and other things related. Please keep a look out for the full video which will be out next Sunday! We loved this conversation and we hope you will do too! #fyp #sociallysound #languagedevelopment #speech #signlanguage #hearingchild #deafparents
