More sounds from my recent residency at EMS in Stockholm, this time from their beautiful Serge system. I love using this kind of scuttling, percussive patch as a kind of scaffolding or backbone for a piece of music -- sometimes even just one or two gestures will catch my ear and I'll chop them out of the full recording and build upon them in my DAW. I've had entire albums start with a single 5-second moment from an improvisation. 🙂 It's nice to be reminded that it's OKAY to not always have a plan for a piece before getting started, or to know how a specific patch / sound will fit (or if it even will fit at all). The act of getting started -- making sound -- listening to sound -- playing with sound -- is what will spark ideas and bring clarity to your work. ❤️ I'm looking forward to combing through all the audio I recorded during the week with @gastonsounds (it's a lot!) and seeing what emerges from it all.
